(Which, by the way? Sucks hardcore. Stop that, Hollywood. Bad Hollywood.)</p> <p>It’s how the glasses dim the picture. As much as 1/2 of the light from the projector is cut when viewing through 3D glasses, because the glasses have to filter out the picture destined for the other eye. It results in a dim picture that is neither as vivid nor as comfortable to view as a normal, 2D projection.</p> <p>The main theatre at <a href="http://www.warrentheatres.com/eastwichita.asp">our local Ultraplex</a> was, until recently, incapable of 3D projection. They recently remedied that by retrofitting the auditorium for <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XpanD_3D">shutter glasses</a>. I was hoping the screen would stay 3D-free for at least a little longer, but now it looks like I may have no choice but to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 3D (which was surely converted in post…BAD HOLLYWOOD). Hopefully the theatre will give me the option of seeing it in 2D in a decent theatre.
