a few years ago, before i moved to my current apartment in june of 2005, i had this comic strip on my computer monitor. chmod 700 * is quite useful if others are on your box, but if you’re like me, you keep accidentally putting the wrong number in the first field and locking yourself out of your own damn directory (which i did more than once; while i couldn’t remember not to do it, i remembered how to fix it).
in other foxtrot news, i ran into another strip. i’m slightly embarrassed to say it took me a couple minutes to get it.
(about the time i thought ‘why the fuck is he taking the square root of x squared? that’s x.’ i figured it out.)

I met Bill Amend at PAX earlier this year. He was pretty awesome.
