I found our jetpacks. The Swiss had them all along. Those guys get all the good crap.Jerks.

Yeah, see, this gets it right. Jetpacks with just jets on them (or rockets or whatever) have to generate all their own lift, in addition to whatever thrust you need to get from point A to B. That means a lot of fuel, and fuel is heavy. The human body can only carry so much weight, so jetpacks have remained impractical.
This fixed-wing jetpack, though, just needs to generate enough lift to get you up in the sky. The wing takes care of the lift from there, leaving the jets to generate thrust. Biggest problem I see with this, though, is that landing would be really, REALLY tricky, or really, REALLY painful. Possible, though…pull up until you stall, then make the jets fire hard enough to let you slowly descend to the ground.
I want one.
